MSC announces new congestion surcharge from Scotland to Canada and Mexico

[Advantage Logistics] Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will apply a congestion surcharge (CGS) for cargo from Scotland to Canada and Mexico due to the congestion in the Scottish ports.

The port congestion in Scotland generates difficult conditions for operation, according to MSC, which will implement a CGS of US$500/TEU for all cargoes and commodities including reefer boxes and special equipment.

The Swiss/Italian container shipping company noted that the new fee will be effective from 21 January 2022.
